During this uncertain time, many people are looking at ways to make their lives easier. One way is to move into a new home that is in an area of town where you can walk to everything you need. One fantastic spot to do that is in the Uptown neighborhood Fourth Ward.

The wards were originally named after the voting districts in Uptown. There are four of them and each has its own character and distinctions. The fourth ward is located west of North Tryon Street and North of West Trade Street making it the northernmost ward in Uptown. The outer border of the ward is I-277. This makes the ward landlocked so there will be no further expansion outward limiting supply and making the area very popular.

Inside of the borders of Fourth Ward, you will find many businesses including Ray’s Splash Planet, Discovery Place Museum, The Dunhill Hotel, AvidXChange and parts of Johnson & Wales University. There are arts venues like The Fillmore Charlotte and Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre. Restaurants include local favorite Alexander Michael’s, Poplar Tapas, Basil Thai, and Capital Grille just to name a few.

Fourth Ward is unique as it has many historical Victorian homes as well as sleek and modern condos, townhomes, and apartments. There is a variety of price points from efficiency units in the mid-$100,000’s to two story penthouse units for almost $1 million. Rarely one of the Victorian homes will arrive on the market for well over a million dollars. Many of the condo and townhome units have amazing amenities that come with a property such as pools, gyms, rooftop gathering spaces, dedicated parking spaces, concierge services and more.

Convenience is a great reason to become a resident of Fourth Ward. There is a grocery store in the center making it walking distance for all residents. Just outside you will find a light rail station connecting you with many other parts of the city and as the light rail is expanded, you will have even more options. There are many parks inside Fourth Ward as well as ones just a short walk away. The main library rebuild is very close as is the Imaginon Children’s Library.

Once they have proper seasons again, you will be able to walk to major sports venues. There are museums, galleries, playhouses, theaters, nightlife, and so much more nearby so you don’t even need a car. Commutes are very short if you work in Uptown, and if you work somewhere else, you will be going against traffic so it won’t be a problem. Also if you are working from home, many of the condos have fantastic views. At the street level you will find large old growth trees and amazing landscaping helping with a park-like feel.
