A recent study by CommercialCafe concluded that Charlotte is the number 7 destination for migration from one metro to another. Charlotte adds a net average of 21,143 new residents each year coming mainly from New York, Atlanta, and Columbia, SC. Many of these new residents are millennials, defined as people aged 23-38 years old this year. These new millennial residents are in the prime of their working lives and one of their favorite places to land in the Charlotte area is NoDa and it’s not hard to see why.

NoDa or North Davidson for the uninitiated, has been an arts and entertainment district for many years, but has added many other destinations over the years that make it a great place to work, live or just visit. This historic district is home to all walks of life and residents are dedicated to promoting the arts, living eco-friendly lifestyles, and encouraging diversity.

NoDa was on its way to being one of the most popular neighborhoods in all of Charlotte, and then the light rail made it even more desirable, especially for Uptown commuters. This means that there are many residents of NoDa who don’t need to own a car. It has also caused an explosion of new housing options including apartment complexes, condominiums, and single family homes.

The other result of the popularity of NoDa is that there are many more options for dining, shopping, entertainment, and just hanging out. You can get everything from art to a show, to one-of-a-kind gifts, to tattoos, to award-winning food, to a relaxing time enjoying a craft beer. Start your day off getting a fabulous cup of coffee. From there you can stroll along and window shop until you meet up with friends for brunch. After brunch, you can spend time in the park with our without four legged friends. Enjoy the afternoon catching up with friends at a local brewery, then head out for dinner and a show or the monthly gallery crawl all without leaving the neighborhood.

There is a home in NoDa for every type of family. A wide range of architectural styles is available, from craftsman to colonial to modern. Prices can vary widely as well. You can still find affordable homes like a one bedroom condo in the high $100’s. There are many original mill homes in the NoDa area, some have been extensively remodeled. There are also many new construction homes, some made to look like the historic homes, and some very modern. These homes typically range from the $200’s to the mid-$700’s.
