Whether your dad is outdoorsy, adventurous, or a bit of a home-body, there are great events coming up in the Queen City to celebrate Father’s Day this month.

Charlotte Symphony Summer Pops: The Music of Queen

Take your old man back to his prime rock and roll days with classic Queen this Saturday, June 8th at the Belk Theater.  The Charlotte Symphony will cover well-known Queen hits at this event with a vocalist and full rock band.  For more information visit, blumenthalarts.org.

Music at the Met

If late night dancing isn’t your dad’s style, every Thursday from April 25th to June 13th between 5:30 and 8:00 p.m., head over to Music at the Met.  Located at the Metropolitan, enjoy talented artists perform live music with friends and family.  The event is free and offers entertainment, great food, drink specials, fun games and giveaways!

Join for the last show of the event, Spencer Rush on June 13th.  The event is outdoors and open to all, even your fur-kids!

Family Feud Live-Celebrity Edition

Be the lucky member of the audience selected to play Family Feud tonight, June 6th at the Ovens Auditorium.  This event kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and is led by celebrity team captains.  To register for a chance to be a contestant and purchase tickets, visit Ticketmaster.

Vic DiBitetto

Known comedian, Vic DiBitetto, performs next Saturday, June 15th at 8:00 p.m. at the McGlohon Theater at Spirit Square.  Vic is known as an energetic comedian, at times called a cross between Rodney Dangerfield and Ralph Kramden, and was featured in Mall Cop 2, Gotham Comedy Live on AXS TV, and a major headline across the country.  For more information on this event, visit bluementhalarts.org.

Paddlelkn

This event consists of two courses for paddlers beginning and ending at King Canary at 7 and 9 a.m. on June 8th.  The event welcomes paddlers of all kinds and will raise money to help bring awareness to single-use plastic while providing access to Clean Water in Sumba, Indonesia.

Paddlekn is also an opportunity to help clean up the lake within the surrounding water.  So grab your paddles, and head over to Mooresville this Saturday morning, World Oceans Day.

Race to the Taste 5K and 1 Mile Cupcake Run/Walk

They had me at cupcakes!  The Race to the Taste 5K takes place at the Taste of Charlotte in uptown Charlotte.  The event includes a full course 5K or 1 mile run, and you guessed it, cupcakes!  After the race, relax with some live music, a Corona, and cupcakes for an awards ceremony.

Strides for Shelter 5K

What better way to celebrate Father’s Day than supporting the Housing Opportunity Foundation so that families across the community have a better quality of life.  The Strides for Shelter 5K on June 22nd will be held in McAlpine Park and offers plenty of activities for the entire family to enjoy. 

The funds from Strides for Shelter will be used to purchase a new van for the youth crisis center which will help transport close to 300 kids to school, medical, dental, and counseling appointments, and visits to community events.  For more information visit stridesforshelter.com.
