Finally, winter is behind us! Spring has finally arrived, warmer weather is on its way, and whether you’re ready for some spring cleaning, fitness, or simply enjoying the great outdoors, the Queen City has plenty of Spring Festivals to keep you busy this season.
2019 Queen City Spring Festival
The Queen City Spring Festival has a lot to offer! Bring the family down to the Carole Hoefener Center on March 30th from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Enjoy face painting, games, dance performances, bake sales, crafts, vendors, food, and much more! To top it off, female attendees can enjoy a FREE makeover (hair, makeup, and nails). The first 100 attendees will also be given a free swap bag.

Tuck Fest
You can’t miss out on this multi-day festival featuring outdoor competitions, exhibitions, demos, and live music at the U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC). The event takes place April 25th through the 28th between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. depending on the day.
Tuck Fest, named after the Tuckaseegee Ford and Trail (a historic landmark located in USNWC) is going on its 7th year and has grown from 14,000 attendees in 2013 to 55,000 attendees last year.
Attendees can participate in more than 35 competitions! Outdoor competitions include trail running, kayaking, biking, climbing, stand-up paddle boarding, obstacle, and adventuring racing. There are also a TON of demos and clinics including intro to raft guiding, belaying, freestyle kayaking, intro to map and compass navigation, a bicycle stunt show, and Ayurveda to name a few.
Live music includes 11 bands from Thursday through Friday, closing out the event on Sunday with performances by The Milk Carton Kids, Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors, and Liz Cooper & The Stampede.

Science Festival
Enjoy North Carolina’s biggest celebration of science for the ninth year! The entire month of April, join UNC’s Morehead Planetarium and Science Center and the Biogen Foundation for an exciting adventure exploring science, technology, engineering, math and more!
The North Carolina Science Festival brings hundreds of events focused on fun, interactive science learning opportunities while highlighting the educational, cultural, and financial impact of science in the state.

Charlotte Jazz Festival
From April 29th through May 4th, join the Leon Levine Foundation for the Charlotte Jazz Festival at the Lincoln Center Orchestra, The Jazz Garden Tent at Romare Bearden Park and free jazz concerts taking place throughout Charlotte all week long!

International Sandwich Festival
Head over to Aldersgate on Saturday, April 27th from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. to celebrate the sandwich. You read that right, the sandwich. International Sandwich Festival offers a variety of sandwiches to celebrate diverse cultures, ranging from Vietnamese to Latin American.
There will also be live music ranging from vocal and instrumental acts to dance lessons and performances including German Polka, Reggae, Salsa Gospel and more. The event offers kids’ activities and entertainment, and parking and admission is free!
