The Fourth Ward occupies about one-fourth of Center City. The original neighborhood dates back to the mid-19th century. Many of the original Victorian homes no longer remain, although some of the historic churches do. Since the late 1990s, the area has experienced a housing renaissance. Arriving home buyers are increasingly attracted to the convenience offered by the Fourth Ward’s location. Fourth Ward homes sell for an average of $565,967, more than twice the greater Charlotte average of $233,505. Most of the time, homes are rather consistently priced from the 400s to the 600s. Over the past year, very few properties have been sold in the Fourth Ward. On average, 0.3 homes are sold each month. Available inventory is consistent with the 4.0-month inventory found across the Charlotte area.
