The leaves starting to change, the cool crisp air and a wide range of festivals are the top three signs that fall is on its way in North Carolina’s capital. Fall in this city brings a lot of events for families. The following are some of the activities that people can enjoy this year.
Grid Iron
Charlotte is famous for its love of football. As a matter of fact, the community prides itself on having two of the best teams in the country, the Carolina Panthers and the UNC Charlotte 49ers. This fall, people should visit the Bank of America Stadium to watch the home team battle it out against the reigning Super Bowl Champs, the Seattle Seahawks.
If they want to experience more than the game itself, they can join the Panthers Football 101 on October 8th for an evening of fun and football. They can also enjoy a gourmet of fine wine, good food and great entertainment with the Taste of the Panthers at the Bank of America Stadium on Oct 28th.
Everyone can get in on the collegiate action with the UNC Charlotte 49ers. They have games at their home field from September 6th until November 22nd. Additionally, the 49ers have a Fall Family Festival on November 15th. There will be tailgating and a high octane matchup against Wesley College.
Food Events
The city also has a number of food events this coming fall. One of these is the NoDa Charlotte Tour De Food. People can taste creative dishes from chefs at six local establishments. Aside from that, they have the opportunity to meet the artisans that make it all possible while sourcing locally.
Another great food event this fall is the Charlotte Crabs and Beer Fest. It offers blue crabs fresh out of the ocean. People can also enjoy music, games and lots of fun. A Taste of Australia Wine Event at Schmick’s & McCormick is also worth attending. This is an evening of delicious wine from Australia followed by mouth watering hors d’oeuvers.
Kids and Family
There are many activities designed for both kids and the entire family this fall. One of those events is the Fall Finale that the U.S. National Whitewater Center holds every year. This kicks off with the Dirty Dozen Trail Race that features a dozen challenging obstacles. Aside from that, there will be live band performances in the afternoon and evening.
People can also enjoy the Fall Harvest Festival from Latta Plantation. At this festival, they can meet farm animals while at the same time enjoying live music, numerous harvest presentations and shopping from local vendors and artists. Kids can visit the Farm Chores Area and gather eggs, milk cows and try the water bucket relay.
Discovery Place also has activities lined up for families and kids this season. There is a workshop on November 1st where they will read classic Dr. Seuss stories and explore symbolic relationships and ecosystems. On the same day, there will also be Geocoaching. This is an interactive scavenger hunt for hidden things that are found in cities, parks and neighborhoods.
