A major distribution operation is considering Rock  Hill for up to 900 jobs as part of  $150 million investment, the Charlotte Business Journal has learned.

On Monday, York County Council members will consider a resolution that would provide incentives to lure the employer to an industrial site just south of Rock Hill, off U.S. Highway 21 near Interstate 77 exit 77. The proposed perks include a fee in-lieu of county property taxes.

The company involved hasn’t been identified. Its proposal is known as Project Daisy. Plans call for a consumer-goods distribution and logistics center, one county official says. The company would employ 900 workers in a new building. Its total investment is estimated at more than $150 million.

The company also is considering other sites in the region. Officials say York County is attractive to the company because of its road network and proximity to I-77. The county is already home to several large distribution centers, including Ross Dress For Less and U.S. Foodservice facilities in the Fort Mill area.

York County officials on Monday also are scheduled to consider a smaller batch of incentives for a manufacturing prospect known as Project Ambition. That would create about 60 jobs.

Neither of the projects are considered done deals. County officials would have to negotiate specific incentive packages and approve those at a later date.  Monday’s votes are preliminary actions
