With everything going on in Charlotte this holiday season, it can often be difficult for people to decide what they would like to see and do. From themed train rides to viewing Christmas lights, the city truly does have a lot to offer those in the holiday mood. With this in mind, it is always best to plan in advance to make sure that you get the most out of the festive season. Here are some of the things that are going on around the Charlotte area over the holidays.

November 28th – December 22nd
12 Days of Christmas

The 12 Days of Christmas features lots of great festivities that begin right after Thanksgiving and run right up until Christmas. It includes a parade, Santa’s Ride through the Neighborhoods, the GingerSnap 5K and the Holiday Festival of Lights. Almost all of the events are free. November 28th – December 22nd
Polar Express Train Ride

With the soundtrack from the movie as a backdrop, everyone can enjoy cookies and hot chocolate. People on board experience a reading of the classic story that the event is named after in addition to dancing and singing. The schedule for the train ride varies, and people who want to participate need to register in advance. The ride costs between $32 and $24.

November 21st – December 30th
Speedway Christmas

With millions of holiday lights on display and a chance to drive on the track, Speedway Christmas is not to be missed. There are movie nights on weekends where everyone can enjoy holiday-themed movies on a massive television display. With the Christmas Village right in the middle of the action, this is a great holiday activity that the entire family can enjoy.

November 21st – December 31st
Holidays at the Garden

Enjoy a natural winter wonderland with holiday treats, crafts, a visit with Santa and plenty of lights. Everyone can experience old favorites like the decorated trains and even new treats like the Lost Hollow display. Holidays at the Garden is great for old and young alike! Entry fees are between $12 and $6. Kids under the age of four get in for free.

November 21st – January 3rd
Christmas Wonderland of Lights

Enjoy driving through several miles of woods lit up with millions of lights at Christmas Wonderland of Lights. There’s also a petting zoo, visits from Santa, marshmallow roasting and pony rides. The event costs $6 to attend
